Floating

"Nothing can be loved or hated until it is first understood."  Until just recently, I saw this famous De Vinci quote as nothing more than something that would pop up on a google search of top 100 quotes... but now, I see it as something different.  I live it.

Chuck Palahniuk says "It's because we're so trapped in our culture, in the being of being human on this planet with the brains we have, and the same two arms and legs everybody has.  We're so trapped that any way we could imagine to escape would be just another part of the trap.  Anything we want, we're trained to want."

If we don't even know what we want... and I don't mean what society tells us to want, or what we've wanted in the past... I mean what we really want right now, how do we know who we are?  How do we understand our own selves?  

How do I love myself, when I don't understand who I am?  Who I'm becoming?
